Music'n'Voice (MV) DongleMusic'n'Voice (MV) Dongle Features:
Over the last few years there has been a rapid increase in the number of people using VoIP telephony. At the start of 2007 there were over 200 million users registered with Skype™, one of the more popular VoIP providers. The ability to take a phone call anywhere in your house, using a Bluetooth mono or stereo headset makes VoIP even more attractive. The MV dongle not only allows you to do just this, but also enables you to listen to your music collection over the same headphones. When plugged in the MV dongle enumerates as a PC sound card using standard USB drivers. This means that the MV dongle requires no installation software so it is true plug 'n' play, enabling you to be up and running quickly. You can then seamlessly switch between listening to music and taking a VoIP call. The music can be paused when a call comes in, and at the end of the call, the music will be automatically restarted. The MV dongle is compatible with all major VoIP providers including Skype™, MSN messenger™, Yahoo Messenger™ and GoogleTalk. It will also control the most popular music players such as Windows Media Player™, iTunes™, RealPlayer™ and WinAmp™.
Development Hardware Low cost reference design with integrated DSP and Audio CODEC on-chip. The following tools are available: Reference Design: DEV-PC-1546B BlueCore3-Multimedia External NanoSira USB dongle. Development Board: DEV-PC-1508B BlueCore3-Multimedia-External demonstrator board. Software Development Kit Fully interoperability tested software solution Ability to customize the solution by changing LED patterns without software modifications Automatic pairing with most headsets (common headset pin codes of 0000, 1234, 8888, 1111 are supported) on plug-in and when the button on the dongle is pressed Automatic reconnection to previously paired Bluetooth headsets on power on. The dongle will store up to five Bluetooth addresses AVRCP commands supported: Play/Pause/Stop, Skip Forward/Backward HFP1.5 commands supported: Call Answer, Call End, Most headsets will also be able to perform the following actions: Volume Up/Volume Down, Mute The DSP encodes the 48KHz 16-bit stereo PCM audio stream to SBC for transmission over A2DP. During a call the DSP converts the 48KHz 16-bit stereo PCM stream to 8KHz 8-bit mono for transmission over (e)SCO. Similarly the 8KHz 8-bit mono audio received over the microphone is converted to 48kHz 16-bit mono for streaming to the PC. Reference Design The reference design uses BlueCore™3-Multimedia which includes an integrated DSP and audio CODEC on-chip. The design includes a button for resetting the device and putting the device into pairing mode. There are also two LEDs which can be easily configured to show the state of the dongle. To enable easy software upgrade the device also supports DFU. The DEV-PC-1546B BlueCore3-Multimedia External NanoSira USB dongle is available now. The package includes the schematic, BOM and Gerber files as well as example hardware. Development Board The MV dongle software can also be run on the DEV-PC-1508B development board. With this board and the MV Dongle SDK it is possible to quickly customise an MV dongle to meet individual requirements. This board is part of the BTN-001B development kit.
