General Description
The MusiCore1 is a single chip Bluetooth® v2.1 + EDR specification device including a Hi-fi audio CODEC, a 24-bit audio DSP, power management and 8Mbit of internal Flash memory.

The high level of integration means that cellular phone designers can replace up to four existing chips with a single MC601 device.

In addition, MC601 greatly increases music playback time for cellular handsets. Up to 100 hours of playback time is possible. It allows designers to add advanced audio processing, such as noise reduction and stereo enhancement. All processing algorithms run on the MC601 device, reducing power consumption further and greatly simplifying cellular software integration.

Applications
MusiCore1 is useful and cost effective in a wide range of handset designs. For example, MusiCore1 can increase music playback time and voice quality of mid range/high-end music phones, improve the performance of voice-centric phones without running additional software on the phone CPU, and add music playback capability to low-end phone platforms.

MC601 contains the Kalimba DSP, supporting enhanced audio applications, such as dual microphone noise reduction, full-duplex speakerphone, stereo enhancement and text to speech.

MC601 is designed to reduce the number of external components required which ensures production costs are minimised. The device incorporates autocalibration and built-in self-test (BIST) routines to simplify development, type approval and production test.

To improve the performance of both Bluetooth and IEEE 802.11b/g co-located systems a wide range of co-existence features are available including a variety of hardware signalling: basic activity signalling and Intel WCS activity and channel signalling.
